About Mel Web
Before even owning my own domain name I had a website. Now I’ve got the domain and the guts to blog. Various stuff about sport bike riding, my friends, pets, and general life chaos was what filled my site in the past. And though you’ll find that stuff here, you’ll mostly read about the things I think about. Topics I’m having trouble understanding, life lessons that are just sinking in, and anything else that whirls around in my head.
Being that the goal here is share what my mind chews on I feel a bit of an introduction is required. Here goes:
I’m a member of the ELCA. I began to travel this path in late middle school with a casual invite from a friend to a Christian concert. Eventually I attended youth group and service. I eventually brought Mom and Sister in and we entered into Christian Discipleship Training (CDT). I became a confirmed member of the ELCA in May of 1997. I still cherish my bible that I received that day.
In college I looked for a congregation that I could grow in and praise in. It took years. I now find my home at Christ Lutheran in Wyoming, MI. Occasionally I have company when I go, and sometimes I don’t.
Now I’m becoming focused on what it means to really be a disciple. There are so many questions. So much I don’t know. My bible knowledge is weak. My understanding of traditions is poor. I have little insight as to the differences between believers: their beliefs and their traditions. That’s where this site comes in.
I’m discovering new ideas, perspectives, and questions everyday. My mind is full and what it’s filled with isn’t meant to be kept private. My hope is to expose the interested to my perspectives and hopefully get a few in the comments.
The whole of the site is centered around this idea of “Sharing what my brain chews on”, that is, what my brain chews on. The concept came to me while sharing and discussing some perspectives on faith with a friend. I realized this was what God meant in the “bread of life”. The word or the Lord an the truths of our lives are our food, the more we consume the better we grow.
I hope you get something from at least one post. And then I hope you share it. And if I’m really lucky, you’ll share with me in the comments.
