What struck me in the car was “We’re not ungrateful selfish idiots”. I can’t help but be outraged that myself or anyone else would say “meh, so he died a horrible death for me, whatever, I’m not still not going to listen” I feel so dense. I feel so dumb. Well, I’m not ungrateful and selfish, and God’s got my attention. I’m going to listen.

As the saying goes – if someone isn’t a Christian, it’s unlikely they’ll sit through a sermon on Sunday – or a sermon during the week from you. All they have to see of our witness is our lives.
The absolute most painful memories in my life are the times that I have been a bad example and led someone astray from Christ by my life.
And, as for “once saved always saved”, as a Catholic, of course, I am reminded of an expression my mother has used:
“I’m sorry. Your actions were so loud I couldn’t here your words.”
Doesn’t the Bible say many shall come in that day, saying “Lord Lord, did we not do all sorts of wonders and miracles in your name?” and he will say “depart from me, I never knew you?”
There’s my answer. Back to work …
